Spontaneous reheating of crystallizing lava

چکیده
Abstract We show that recalescence, or spontaneous reheating of a cooling material due to rapid release latent heat, can occur during disequilibrium crystallization depolymerized Mg-rich melts. This only happen at fast rates, where the melt becomes undercooled by tens hundreds degrees before begins. Using forward-looking infrared (FLIR) camera, we documented recalescence in pyroxene (Fe, Mg)SiO3 and komatiite lavas initially cooled 25–50 °C s–1. Local heating front exceeds 150 for 10 lasts several seconds as migrates through. determined heat differential scanning calorimetry be 440 J g–1 275 with brief power output ∼100 W ∼300 MW m–3. Recalescence may widespread process solar system, particularly lava fountains, histories mafic pyroclasts should not assumed priori monotonic.

متن کاملChaotic Reheating
We discuss the structure of parametric resonance which occurs in the process of reheating after inflation with two interacting scalar fields. It is found that, for the case of a not too large coupling constant, a quasi-homogeneous part of the second, initially subdominant scalar field may not be neglected due to its stochastic growth during inflation. This fact has strong consequences for the r...
متن کاملEffects of reheating on leptogenesis
We study the evolution of a cosmological baryon asymmetry in leptogenesis when the right-handed neutrinos are produced in inflaton decays. By performing a detailed numerical study over a broad range of inflaton-neutrino couplings we show that the resulting asymmetry can be larger by two orders of magnitude or more than in thermal leptogenesis, if the reheating temperature TRH is of the same ord...
متن کاملCrystallizing ideas about Parkinson's disease.
G enetic forms of Parkinson’s disease (PD) are useful in helping us to understand the underlying pathophysiology of this disorder in both its rare familial forms and the more common ‘‘sporadic’’ type. Three genes are unambiguously causal in different PD families: -synuclein, parkin, and DJ-1 (reviewed in ref. 1). Two recessive mutations have been found in DJ-1, a large deletion and an L166P poi...
